On Thursday, November 11, 2021 U.S. News and World Report published their National 2021-2022 Best Nursing Homes ratings. So, it is with immense pride and excitement that we share the news that Sharon Towers was named among the elite 13% that earned a rating of “High Performing” status for Short-Term Rehabilitation. This rating evaluates a nursing home’s quality of post-acute care for patients recovering from an acute hospital stay such as after a stroke, heart attack, surgery or injury.
U.S. News & World Report’s High Performing Status Explained
The Best Nursing Homes ratings are based on U.S. News’s in-depth analysis of publicly available data, including information that is not factored into the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) star ratings. Unlike star ratings, U.S. News ratings recognize that patients undergoing relatively short-term rehabilitation have very different needs from those who require longer-term care. The publication took into account several qualifiers to make their determination.
This year’s ratings include some new requirements for a High Performing status – most notably that federal CMS data published by October 13 must list the facility as having a COVID-19 staff vaccination rate of at least 75%. Sharon Towers’ staff vaccination rate consistently exceeds this percentage (between 98 and 100%) when reporting to CMS on a weekly basis.
U.S. News badges are widely recognized symbols of excellence in U.S. healthcare that are awarded by an unbiased trust agent. They indicate truly exceptional performance. In fact, of more than 15,000 U.S. skilled nursing facilities evaluated by U.S. News, barely 2,000 earned even a single High Performing rating.
Congratulations to the Medicare Team
Congratulations to the entire interdisciplinary Medicare team for receiving this national distinction! It is a testament to the hard, dedicated work they perform every day to deliver professional clinical skills while meeting the Mission and Guiding Principles of Sharon Towers.
