As we welcomed back in-house dining and celebrated the coming of warmer weather, our Culinary Services team hosted a pop-up wine tasting event that was sure to awaken the palates of our residents.
On the afternoon of February 25, in Allison’s Fine Dining Restaurant, Chef Chad Lauderbaugh, Sharon Towers’ director of Culinary Services, offered a surprise showcase of his culinary talents with a four-course menu he crafted specifically to pair with intriguing wine selections.
The menu for the event included:
First Course
Featuring Maggio Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio
Corn Flan
Roasted Vegetables and Crab Crumble
Second Course
Featuring Old South Petite Sirah
“Atlanta’s Vertical Gardens”
Mixed Greens / Roasted Beets / Berries / Blue Cheese
Third Course
Featuring Lodi Estates Cabernet Sauvignon
“Risotto Ala Verona”
Wild Mushrooms / Cabernet
Fourth Course
Featuring OZV Zinfandel
Braised Duck Confit
Sautéed Kale / Creamy Polenta /Wild Cherry Jus
The theme was Spring Wines and Food with wines from Empire Distributors. After the event, partakers were able to purchase the wines they had tasted and enjoyed.
Participants raved about this lively addition to the calendar and said that they look forward to savoring more events like this one. Dining Service Manager Lyndsey Stevenson was happy to oblige, saying, “We are already planning a similar affair for the month of April with a five-course tasting and pairing.”
Residents are urged to keep an eye on Cubigo for the announcement of the next pop-up event.
