Magnolia Villas Groundbreaking

Sharon Towers, SouthPark’s most venerable retirement living community, began a new direction on April 1, 2015 with a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Magnolia Villas.

The event, held on the Sharon Towers campus in the visitor’s parking area and at the site of the new construction, was attended by Sharon Towers’ CEO Anne Moffat, in addition to Cookie F. Parnell, Chair of the Sharon Towers Board of Directors, Robert M. Teague, Residents Council President and Vince Pratt, Chair of the Facilities and Grounds Committee, among other dignitaries from the Sharon Towers Board of Advisors, the Presbyterian Church, Union Theological Seminary, Magnolia Villas depositors and invited guests. Refreshments were served as guests listened to a jazz ensemble as well as speeches and dedications by local clergy.

Magnolia Villas is the centerpiece of Sharon Towers’ mission to address and anticipate current and future trends in senior living. The villas – 18 independent living apartments on three floors, to be built in five phases – reflect seniors’ growing demand for the latest amenities. Villas residents will enjoy the same level of fellowship and community that have been a Sharon Towers hallmark since its origins 46 years ago, all in a more intimate and independent setting and have the security of on-site healthcare, if the need should arise.

Local media, including The Charlotte Observer (who also provided video) and Mecklenburg Times covered the event. See the video from Time Warner Cable News below in addition to images from the event.

Phase 1 of the project has a projected completion date of spring, 2016. Prices range from $289,970 to $416,872 for single-occupancy residences. Double occupancy adds $15,000. Preconstruction pricing ends May 31, 2015.
